Havana, Sept 1 (RHC) The funeral of Guillermo Teillier, president of the Communist Party of Chile (PCCh) ended Thursday with a multitudinous act of homage and an intimate family ceremony in the general cemetery of Santiago, the capital of the South American nation.

 

The president of the Republic, Gabriel Boric, political, social and union leaders and thousands of residents and militants attended the mourning demonstration that took place in the Plaza de la Paz, next to the main entrance of the necropolis.

 

For two days, tribute was paid to the prominent Chilean communist in the hall of honor of the former headquarters of the National Congress, from where the large procession departed and traveled through several streets and avenues of the city.

 

In the mourning farewell, Pablo Teillier, son of the communist leader, highlighted the example of dignity, discipline and enormous generosity left by his father to the new generations of the party.

 

At the ceremony, the secretary general of the CCP, Lautaro Carmona, read messages of condolences received from various parts of the world, including that of the Cuban president, Miguel Díaz-Canel. A representation of the largest Antillean island traveled to Santiago de Chile to pay tribute to the friend of the Cuban Revolution. The delegation is headed by Humberto Camilo Hernández, member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and head of the Department of Cadres, and also includes José Ángel Maury, coordinator for the Americas of the Department of International Relations of that political organization and the Cuban ambassador to Chile, Mercedes Vicente.Photo: Prensa Latina

 

Carmona also informed the agreement of the Central Committee of the CCP to posthumously award Guillermo Teillier the 'Luis Emilio Recabarren' Order, the highest recognition to the militant merit established in the culture and statutes of the organization. (Source: Prensa Latina)
