Beijing, September 10 (RHC)-- Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, during his current official visit to China, said that Venezuela and China are countries committed to peace, development and cooperation, between which a model of relationship has been established that will contribute to the construction of a world without hegemonism.

In an interview granted to Xinhua news agency, the Bolivarian leader stated that both nations and peoples share "a common destiny in the world to come" and maintain "a model relationship (...) of what should be the relationship between a superpower like China, the great superpower of the 21st century and an emerging, heroic, revolutionary and socialist country like Venezuela."

President Maduro said that between Caracas and Beijing "relations of intimate mutual trust, of true brotherhood, of cooperation for shared development" have been woven.  In his opinion, humanity is heading towards a historic opportunity, with the possibility of the emergence of a multipolar world without hegemonic countries.

He stressed that the possibility of a horizon without imperialism and colonialism is the result of the tenacious struggle of the peoples and the existence of a group of emerging and sovereign nations. He appreciated that this process has contributed "to the reunion of humanity, to build its right to social happiness, equality, freedom and democracy, and China is at the forefront of the construction of this new world".

The Bolivarian leader praised China's contribution to a fairer world and assured that this country "has inaugurated a new era of the emergence of non-colonialist, non-imperialist, non-hegemonic superpowers."  He added that this nation points out "the path of economic development, technological development, social stability, independence won, built and strengthened".

The Venezuelan president said that the initiative promoted by President Xi Jinping with the Belt and Road project will stimulate integration and respect for diversity, and will offer humanity a community of shared destiny, "uniting peoples in all aspects of the economy, trade, culture and laying the foundations to leave behind the old world of colonialism and imperialism".

He recalled the contribution made by China at a global level for humanity to face Covid-19 and, in particular, how it provided vaccines and other medical supplies to more than 160 countries in the world.

Maduro thanked China for its support to Venezuela's struggle against the more than 950 unilateral and illegal restrictive measures imposed by the United States and other Western powers.  He affirmed that, in spite of the economic war and other imperialist conspiracies, Venezuela "has resisted and has shown that it is capable of recovering from all this onslaught".

"We have been moving forward in the construction of a new economic model based on productive diversification, national dialogue, peace and stability, and the recovery of the welfare state."

He stated that this year and next will consolidate Venezuela's economic and productive results, which will better serve the people, families and communities, the construction of housing, education, health and the right to food, among other fundamental rights.

He ratified Caracas' interest in joining the Brics group, of which he expressed that it is getting stronger "as the great engine for the acceleration of the process of the birth of a new world, a world of cooperation, where the Global South has the primordial voice".

He acknowledged the contribution of this platform to accelerate the de-dollarization and the emergence of a new international financial system and a new just economic order.
