Tehran, June 6 (RHC)-- Iran's Interim Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri Kani says Muslim countries should make the utmost use of their capacities to end the Israeli regime's genocide of Palestinians in Gaza and accelerate the delivery of humanitarian aid to the war-ravaged Strip.

In a phone call with Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry late Wednesday, Bagheri Kani warned against the consequences of Israel's continued atrocities in Gaza and the southern city of Rafah.

Israel waged the genocidal war on the blockaded Gaza Strip on October 7 after the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas conducted Operation al-Aqsa Storm against the occupying entity in retaliation for its intensified atrocities against the Palestinian people.

Since the start of the aggression, Israel has been committing war crimes in Gaza, killing at least 36,586 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and injuring some 83,074 others.  The Tel Aviv regime has imposed a “complete siege” on the territory, cutting off fuel, electricity, food and water to the more than two million Palestinians living there.

In his remarks, Bagheri Kani also pointed to relations between Tehran and Cairo and stressed the importance of holding more talks between the two sides aimed at restoring relations based on the principles of mutual respect and common interests.

The Egyptian foreign minister, for his part, said the two countries' authorities have so far held constructive talks aimed at resuming relations.

Shoukry, whose country has been a longtime mediator in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, added that Cairo has been making efforts over the past months to stop Israel's war in Gaza and prepare the ground for the dispatch of aid to the Strip.

The top Iranian and Egyptian diplomats agreed to continue consultations on ways to promote relations and end Israel's crimes against the people of Palestine in Gaza.
