Los Angeles, June 7 (RHC)-- Hollywood actor Mark Ruffalo has called on U.S. President Joe Biden to take action over what he says are Israel’s “clear” violations of legal prohibitions against targeting civilians in war.

“Dear @POTUS, It is clear Israel has broken U.S. law by using U.S. bombs and munitions on civilians in Gaza with wanton disregard for civilian life. #StopTheBombs,” Ruffalo, who is known for his role as Bruce Banner in the Marvel films, said in a post on X on Thursday that tagged Biden’s official account.

Ruffalo’s post included an article about a TV interview given by a U.S. Army veteran who publicly resigned from the military over what he described as Israel’s “ethnic cleansing” in Gaza.

Mark Ruffalo has been vocal on the Middle East situation on a number of occasions.  In November 2023, Ruffalo criticized the prime minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, for describing the civilian deaths during the Israeli attacks on Gaza as 'collateral damage.'   And at the 96th Academy Awards, Ruffalo was one of several celebrities wearing an "Artists Call for Ceasefire Now" pin on his lapel, and he called out in support of protestors blocking the red carpet.
