Havana, June 9 (RHC)-- Global condemnations poured in on Saturday after the Israeli regime’s latest act of aggression that killed over 275 [new figure] and injured more than 400 Palestinians at the al-Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza.

Israel’s bloody raid on Nuseirat camp has led to an international outrage resulting in a chorus of voices denouncing the “massacre” that is a “flagrant violation of international law.”

On Saturday, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry in a statement condemned the attack which it said is a “a blatant violation of all provisions of international law” and added it holds Israel responsible for the offensive and urged it to stop the “devastating” war on Gaza.

“Egypt holds Israel legally and ethically responsible for this blatant aggression and demands compliance as an occupying power to cease the indiscriminate targeting of Palestinian civilians, including those in displacement areas, and the devastating destruction of all infrastructure services in the Gaza Strip,” it said.

It also called on “influential international parties and the Security Council to urgently intervene to halt the Israeli war against the Gaza Strip and to take responsible action to end this humanitarian crisis,” which has killed over 36,800 Palestinians.

The Jordanian Foreign Ministry also denounced Israel’s “continued genocide in the Gaza Strip” also saying the attack constitutes “a blatant violation of international law and international legitimacy resolutions.”

The statement called for an end to the war in Gaza and urged the international community, particularly the UN Security Council, to promptly intervene and oblige the occupying regime to “comply with the rules of international law and international humanitarian law and to stop its senseless war on the Gaza Strip.”

Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a statement also condemned Israel's attack on the Nuseirat camp.

It called on the international community and UN Security Council to “shoulder their responsibilities in stopping that barbaric aggression” against Palestinians.

European Union Foreign Policy Chief Josep Borrell also in a post on X, formerly Twitter, called the attack “another massacre of civilians.”   “Reports from Gaza of another massacre of civilians are appalling.  We condemn this in the strongest terms,” Borrell wrote.

The D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation in their joint declaration issued at the end of the Extraordinary Meeting of the Council of Ministers in Istanbul on Saturday demanded “an immediate, permanent and unconditional ceasefire, the cessation of the Israeli aggression on the Palestinian people in Gaza, and the immediate implementation of the relevant UN Resolutions.”

They also called on all countries to ensure Israel’s strict adherence to provisional measures ordered by the International Court of Justice (ICJ).

Also, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, speaking at the opening of the D-8 Council of Foreign Ministers, said that there is no doubt those who perpetrated the massacre in Gaza will eventually be held accountable.  Fidan added that the international system is collapsing due to its “hypocrisy” and the “blindness” of some countries, adding that “it is high time that the UN Security Council should heed this call and not be kept hostage to one country.”

“Standing with Gaza against such tyranny and oppression is a duty we should all fulfill in the name of humanity,” he added.

The Norwegian Deputy Foreign Minister, Andreas Motzfeldt Kravik, in a post on X, in reaction to the Nuseirat refugee camp massacre said that Norway condemns attacks on civilians in the strongest terms.

“Appalled by reports of another massacre of civilians in Gaza. Norway condemns attacks on civilians in the strongest terms. We call for a ceasefire - now. The suffering must end,” he added.

The UN’s special rapporteur on the human rights situation in the occupied Palestinian territory said the release of four Israeli captives held in Gaza did not need to come at the expense of hundreds of Palestinian lives, including women and children.  “Israel has used hostages to legitimize killing, injuring, maiming, starving and traumatizing Palestinians in Gaza.  And while intensifying violence against Palestinians in the rest of the occupied territory and Israel,” Francesca Albanese said in a post on X.

Israel “could have freed all hostages, alive and intact, 8 months ago when the first ceasefire and hostage exchange was put on the table,” she added.

Martin Griffiths, Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator at the UN, in a post on X, said that Nuseirat refugee camp is the “epicenter of the seismic trauma” that civilians in Gaza continue to suffer.

“Images of death and devastation following Israel’s military operation” in Nuseirat show the war in Gaza is “only growing more horrific,” the UN relief chief said.

Nuseirat refugee camp is the epicentre of the seismic trauma that civilians in Gaza continue to suffer.

On Saturday, Israeli military forces carried out dozens of airstrikes in the besieged Gaza Strip, particularly in and around the Deir el-Balah and Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza before they retrieved four Israeli captives held by Hamas, killing at least 210 Palestinians and injuring 400 others.

At least 36,801 Palestinians, mostly children and women, have been killed and 83,680 people wounded in the war that Israel began on October 7, 2023.
