Moscow, June 12 (RHC)-- The president of the Economic and Financial Commission in the Nicaraguan National Assembly, Wálmaro Gutiérrez, said that the Russian pro tempore presidency of the BRICS is of "capital importance."
The Government of Nicaragua presented to Russia its intention to become a partner country of the expanded BRICS group (BRICS+), for which it had already begun negotiations in this regard with the member countries of the alliance.
The information was offered by the special envoy of the Nicaraguan president, Daniel Ortega, Laureano Ortega, who said that Managua "has already applied to the Russian Federation as a 'pro tempore' presidency of the BRICS so that Nicaragua can be a partner country of this great block."
In that same direction, the Nicaraguan special envoy stated that "we are sure that we are going to achieve it and that we are going to be part of that great family that is working for a more just world, for a better world."
Ortega Murillo admitted that the main obstacle to this ambition is what he called "the selfishness, the hunger for domination of American imperialism, which remains in force as the very spirit of its system."
Regarding the Nicaraguan position, he pointed out that Managua now sees itself as "firmer and stronger than ever, resisting the continuous attack and aggression of the United States and its European allies," while the "opponent" sees in Nicaragua a threat from not share "this ideology of selfishness."
Previously, the president of the Economic and Financial Commission in the Nicaraguan National Assembly, Wálmaro Gutiérrez, said that the Russian pro tempore presidency of the BRICS is of "capital importance" for the development of that bloc of emerging economies, which represents almost half of the global population and 35 percent of the world's Gross Domestic Product after the accession of new members from 2024.
"It is an economic initiative that interests us as a country," he stressed, because "The BRICS are a tool that responds to the interests of the people, the interests of the countries, respects the sovereignty and self-determination of the people, not It conditions, it does not impose, it does not pressure, it is not that cooperation that is tied by submission, but by the fraternity and brotherhood of peoples. Therefore, we believe that these types of ties, these types of associations can greatly boost us as a country to diversify our export destinations."
