Buenos Aires, June 12 (RHC)-- The negative image of the president of Argentina, the far-right Javier Milei, exceeded 55 percent six months after assuming power, a survey reported this Wednesday by local media.

A survey carried out by the consulting firm Zuban Córdoba among 1,400 citizens, and whose data was published by the newspaper Página 12, showed that the Government has 54.4 percent disapproval, while Milei has a negative image of 55.8 percent.

The Minister of Human Capital, Sandra Pettovello, has a negative image of 59.7 percent, after the scandal of food withheld by the Government, which was judicially forced to deliver it to soup kitchens.

The survey, carried out between last Friday and Saturday (June 7 and 8), was revealed in the week in which Milei celebrates six months after assuming the Executive power of the South American country.

According to official information, in the first quarter of the year, there was an 11 percent increase in the poverty rate and indigence jumped from 9.6 to 17.5 percent.  In this period, year-on-year inflation stood at 289 percent, while 122,000 jobs were lost.

The World Bank, in its global perspectives report, revealed that the Gross Domestic Product of Latin America will go from having a growth of 2.2 percent to 1.8 percent.   The reason given by the organization is that it is due to the strong adjustments in Argentina, which will have an economic contraction of -3.5 percent in 2024.
