Gaza City, June 20 (RHC)-- The Israeli regime’s starvation scheme in the besieged Gaza Strip has put thousands of Palestinian children at risk of death.  More than 3,500 Palestinian children are at risk of starving to death due to the extreme shortage of milk, nutritional supplements, vaccines and children’s food in the Gaza Strip, the media office in the territory warned.

The office appealed to the international community to fulfill their responsibilities and save the children in Gaza.  The media office warned “335,000 children live under extremely difficult conditions due to genocide, displacement, and other effects of Israeli aggression.”

It said these children were suffering from “acute malnutrition, affecting their bodies, exposing them to infectious diseases, hindering their growth, and threatening their survival.”  “These children lack access to essential services, and their conditions are worsening due to the deprivation of vaccinations and essential medications.”

“More than 3,500 children under the age of five are at risk of death in Gaza due to Israeli policies of starving children.”  There is “a severe shortage of milk and food, a lack of nutritional supplements, and the denial of vaccinations,” the Gaza media office said.

Gaza is in dire need of food and medicine and the humanitarian aid has been blocked for the fourth week in a row, “amid deafening international silence,” it added.

Wafa news agency reported on June 15 that a Palestinian child had died from starvation at Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah in the central Gaza Strip due to Israel’s ongoing blockade of the Rafah crossing.

Israel has blocked humanitarian aid from reaching Gaza after seizing the Rafah crossing with Egypt. The regime seized control of the Palestinian side of the crossing on May 7. The food and medicine shortage has become more severe since.

The Israeli blockade of humanitarian aid to Gaza has led to the severe malnutrition of the people in Gaza.  And Israel’s crippling blockade of clean water, food and medicine to Gaza had already plunged the hapless Gazans into a catastrophic humanitarian situation.

Since October, the genocidal Israeli campaign in Gaza has continued, killing more than 37,000 Palestinians.  More than 16,000 of them were innocent children.

Also, over eight months of relentless Israeli attacks have reduced more than half of the buildings in the Gaza Strip to ruins.
