Gaza City, July 7 (RHC)-- After more than ten days of the ongoing ground invasion in the Shujayea neighbourhood, the situation remains dire. Many people are still trapped with ongoing strikes on the neighbourhood increasing the suffering of civilians.
Reporters on the scene say that they are witnessing the growing desperation of families trying to survive after these relentless assaults.
One journalist noted that the scale of destruction is "immense." She said "streets are filled with [the] debris of bombed out buildings and the sound of bombs and gunfire are a constant reminder of the violence that surrounds us. Despite the dire conditions, some people have managed to escape after being stuck for several days. Their stories of survival after such hardship are both heartbreaking and inspiring."
Direct news reports say that while some have managed to escape, many other families remain trapped with no way to reach safety. "Communications lines are down, so we have very little information about the full extent of the casualties. Reports indicate that many have been killed and ambulances and medical teams are still unable to reach those who need urgent treatment."
