Palestinian Civil Defense denounces crisis in Gaza and Israeli attacks

Havana, July 17 (RHC) The spokesman of the Civil Defense in the Gaza Strip, Mahmoud Basal, denounced today the humanitarian crisis that has hit the territory after nine months of Israeli attacks and condemned the recent bombings against refugee centers.

In statements to the press, Basal accused the neighboring country's army of preventing the entry of vegetables, fruits, frozen products and basic materials, including cooking gas, to the north of the coastal enclave. Commenting on the situation in the northern region, he pointed out that "the crisis is further complicated by the lack of fuel for bakeries, whose doors are closed for the tenth consecutive day".

The official also warned of the paralysis of desalination plants for the same reason.

He questioned the recent Israeli aggressions against different areas in the Strip, which caused many casualties.

Yesterday, the aircraft targeted a UN school in the Nuseirat refugee camp and then a allegedly safe area for refugees near the southern city of Khan Yunis.

Dozens of people were killed or injured in both attacks, medical officials said.

According to official figures, more than 38,700 Palestinians have lost their lives in Gaza since the current wave of regional violence began on October 7 last year, while another 89,000 have been wounded. (Source: Prensa Latina)
