Beirut, July 29 (RHC)-- A senior Lebanese lawmaker has sternly warned Israel against launching an all-out war on the Arab nation in the wake of an alleged rocket attack in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights, stressing that such an aggression will definitely result in the collapse of the usurping regime.
“If the Zionist entity decides to wage a full-blown war on Lebanon, the conflict would result in the downfall of the regime,” Mohammad Raad, head of Loyalty to the Resistance Bloc – the political wing of Hezbollah – in the Lebanese parliament, said.
The Lebanese member of parliament noted that an Israeli military onslaught on Lebanon could drag the entire West Asia into a regional war. “The Zionist enemy has failed to attain any of its declared objectives in the Gaza Strip, thanks to the steadfastness and heroic resistance of its Palestinian population and the unwavering support offered by all forces of the Axis of Resistance,” Raad said.
Lebanon’s caretaker Foreign Minister Abdallah Bou Habib also condemned the rocket attack that killed a dozen people at a football field in the town of Majdal Shams, but said it does not give Israel a “license to kill.”
The top Lebanese diplomat called for a UN investigation into the incident, emphasizing there was “no logic” for Hezbollah to have been behind it. He said the area is Syrian territory occupied by Israel and its inhabitants are Syrian, so Israel cannot by any means justify its act of aggression against Lebanon as self-defense.
“And therefore, it doesn’t mean give them a license to kill and destroy like they took in Gaza,” Bou Habib underscored. “The world should not give them a license to kill.”
At least 12 people were killed and several others wounded on Saturday in a rocket attack on a football pitch in the town of the Majdal Shams in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights.
In a written statement, Hezbollah said, “The Islamic Resistance has absolutely nothing to do with the incident, and categorically denies all false allegations in this regard.” Some reports, meanwhile, said the explosion might have been caused by a stray projectile fired by the regime’s Iron Dome missile system.
The regime, however, insisted on blaming the resistance movement for the incident. Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Hezbollah was to “pay heavy price” after the incident.
Meanwhile, Syrian Druze religious leader Sheikh Yusef Jarbou has warned of Israeli attempts to change the Arab character and identity of the religious group, stating that the community stands by its fellow members in the wake of the rocket strike on the town of Majdal Shams in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights.
“We express our solidarity with the residents of Majdal Shams in light of the vicious attack that killed several innocent children and young men. We can assure you that we will surmount this hardship. The Druze community will stand firmly committed to its Arab principles and identity,” he said.
There is no doubt that divisive attempts are underway to separate Syrian Druzes from their Arabism. The Druze community will remain at the forefront of resistance forces to defend the issues of the Arab world, Jarbou pointed out.
