Beirut, August 1 (RHC)-- Hamas has blamed inadequate global response for Israel’s continued aggression against the besieged Gaza Strip.   “Arab silence, and the unhurried response of the international community to take meaningful steps to stop the occupation’s crimes has encouraged Israel to carry out more barbaric violations that threaten the local and regional peace.” the Palestinian resistance movement said in a statement on Tuesday.

“We urge the Arab and Islamic nations, as well as the UN, to renounce their silence and observer status, and take political and legal steps to stop the occupation’s crimes.”  There have been reports on an alarming number of decomposed bodies recovered after the nine-day Israeli incursion in and around Khan Yunis.

About 300 people were killed and hundreds of others are wounded or missing in Gaza’s southern city.

Also on Tuesday, a dozen Palestinians were killed in an Israeli attack targeting the entrance of the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza.  Meanwhile, the UN says 86 percent of Gaza is now subject to Israel’s evacuation orders.

Separately, Israeli soldiers shot a man in the head and chest during a military raid into the Ein refugee camp, west of Nablus. He was taken to hospital in critical condition.  Soldiers also fired live rounds at a Palestinian man at a junction near the town of Beit Einun, north of al-Khalil.

The Israeli military claims the man was attempting to stab soldiers. His fate and whereabouts remain unknown.  Israel has killed more than 500 Palestinians in the West Bank since October 2023.
