Tel Aviv, August 20 (RHC)-- The Israeli army put a large part of the Israel Defense Forces’ reserve troops on the warpath this Monday, due to the shortage of personnel in the Gaza Strip -- calling up more than 70,000 reservists to active duty.

In a joint statement with the Ministry of Defense on its X account, it states that the action has been taken following an “assessment of the current situation” and “as part of a process to increase the number of military personnel.”

In addition, the Israeli Parliament, Knesset, is still debating the controversial law to increase military service time and reduce the age of conscription for soldiers, plus the age of recruitment of reservists will also be increased.

Similarly, these mobilizations and recruitment laws shall not be applied to militants of settler movements or Jewish nationalists, who were barred from participating in the IDF after the Israeli Supreme Court itself imposed sanctions on these groups for terrorism and crimes against humanity.

These measures mainly seek to increase the number of soldiers in the Gaza Strip, so as to control more areas also incorporate soldiers into the fight against Hezbollah on the border of Lebanon.

Since October last year -- and even much more before -- Israeli soldiers have succeeded in subverting order and human rights in the Gaza Strip, committing crimes against the human rights of the Palestinian people.
