Tegucigalpa, September 4 (RHC)-- Honduran President Xiomara Castro says that her government condemns all forms of negotiations between drug traffickers and politicians. She also confirmed that the peace and internal security of the Republic is at risk and stated that a new coup d’état is being planned which the people will repel.
“The plan to destroy my socialist and democratic government is in motion,” said the Honduran president, while specifying that “the dark forces of 2009 with national and international media are reorganizing themselves” to arrange the coup.
“The plan of settlement against crime and execution demonstrates our political commitment to extradition, but I will not allow the current treaty with the United States to be selectively used to disband the armed forces, to overthrow my administration and destroy the elections,” she said Tuesday evening during a televised address to the nation, alongside key members of her cabinet.
Security Minister Gustavo Sanchez reported on all the drug trafficking cases that are open for investigation in the courts of the United States without applying any selectivity.
Sanchez mentioned the 26 cases of the National party, including Juan Orlando Hernández, sentenced to 45 years in prison “for turning Honduras into a narcostate” and Juan Antonio Hernández sentenced to life imprisonment for his crimes in Honduras and the United States.
