Paris, September 15 (RHC)-- Unions and student, environmental and feminist organizations in France called for a demonstration on September 27th against the authoritarianism of President Emmanuel Macron, who marginalized the left, winner of the legislative elections, from the task of forming a government, which he entrusted to the right-wing politician Michel Barnier.

In a statement, the organizers of the march referred to Barnier as “someone with a homophobic past who can only govern with a permanent agreement with Marine Le Pen” (political leader of the French far right).  They also affirmed that Macron mocked the people's vote and that, in addition, he elected a person who represents the far right.

On September 7th, thousands of protesters responded to the call of the New Popular Front (NFP) and took to the streets of several cities in the country to denounce what they consider “electoral theft.”

The spokesperson for the Student Union, Éléonore Schmitt, explained that the different unions that participated in the last march will campaign to demand an increase in “salaries, pensions, living conditions of students or even against discrimination, especially sexist and sexual.”

On the other hand, on September 17, a group of 12 members of the National Assembly will have to decide on the admissibility of the impeachment procedure against Emmanuel Macron, initiated by La France Insoumise (LFI).

If the vote is in favor, the text will have to be discussed by all the deputies, in committee and then in the hemicycle.

In this sense, the president of the LFI group, Mathilde Panot, published on X: “Voting against admissibility is opposing debate.  The dignity of Parliament is at stake.”
