Havana, October 9 (RHC)-- "Cuba continues to raise its voice for Palestine," said Miguel Diaz-Canel, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party and President of the Republic.   On his account on X, the Cuban president affirmed that it has not been the battle just this past year, but the immovable position of the Cuban Revolution, driven by its historic leader, Fidel Castro.

In his message on the social network, Díaz-Canel quoted the words of the Commander-in-Chief: "The heroic Palestinians are an impressive example of self-sacrifice and patriotism."

After the armed incursion of Hamas on October 7, 2023, the subsequent disproportionate military offensive by the Israeli army in the Gaza Strip has already caused more than 42,000 deaths and 97,000 wounded, according to reports by Arab authorities.  Of these, the majority are women and children.

More than 90 percent of the Gazan population has been forced to move, amid constant evacuation orders with no safe place to escape the Israeli genocide.

Only 17 of Gaza's 36 hospitals are still partially functioning, and none of them have sufficient fuel, medical supplies or drinking water.

Civilians in the Palestinian coastal strip survive in extreme deprivation without food, electricity, health care or emergency aid.

Schools are under systematic attack even though they serve as shelters for the displaced population.

More than 300 relief workers have been killed during the war, the vast majority from the Palestinian Refugee Agency.

The United Nations has repeatedly called for a ceasefire, and its experts estimated in May of this year that the reconstruction of Gaza will take more than 16 years.  (ACN)
