Geneva, October 22 (RHC)-- The UN rapporteur on Palestine has described Israel’s ongoing genocide in Gaza as “the collective shame of the century.”

“We are facing death by bombs, by thirst and hunger,” said Raed, a resident of Jabalia camp.  “Jabalia is being wiped out and there is no witness to the crime, the world is blinding its eyes.”

The Palestinian Hamas resistance movement says the Israeli forces are carrying out acts of “genocide and ethnic cleansing” against the people of northern Gaza to force them to leave.

Hamas says the silence of Arab nations emboldened Israel to continue committing war crimes and massacres against Palestinians, as Israel’s aggression to displace residents in the northern Gaza Strip escalates.

Meanwhile, Israeli forces airstrikes killed at least five people in Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip and four in two separate strikes in Gaza City, medics said.

Since October 2023, the US-Israeli genocide across the besieged Gaza Strip has killed over 42,500 Palestinians and injured nearly 100,000 others.

Earlier this year, the United Nations' top court ordered the Israeli regime to take all measures to prevent genocide in Gaza. Till now, however, all international efforts to stop the U.S.-backed genocidal war on Gaza have been to no avail.
