The arrest of the former high-ranking official was attributed by the Venezuelan Prosecutor's Office to the delivery of key information to the U.S. intelligence services.

The information was released through a statement in which it is indicated that said action is the result of an "exhaustive scientific investigation" and is part of an effort to combat "serious crimes that threaten the highest interests of the nation."

For the Prosecutor's Office, this act not only represents a violation of the "legal mechanisms," but also compromises the national sovereignty of Venezuela.

The Attorney General of the Republic, Tarek William Saab, emphasized that the arrest was carried out "in strict adherence to the law" and with the "full constitutional cooperation of the Head of State."
