Smoke billows over the southern suburbs of Lebanon’s capital Beirut following intense Israeli airstrikes on October 21, 2024.

Beirut, October 22 (RHC)-- The Israeli regime has kept up its intense bombing campaign against the southern suburbs of Lebanon’s capital Beirut.  Israeli forces continued attacks against the city on Monday, this time targeting its Haret Hreik and Ouzai neighborhoods among other areas with at least 13 airstrikes.

The fresh attacks have reportedly targeted hospitals, including the vicinity of the capital’s Rafiq Hariri Governmental Hospital, where four people, including a child, were killed and 24 others wounded, with the regime claiming that Lebanon’s Hezbollah resistance movement’s tunnels run underneath the facilities.

The regime has been using the same allegation on numerous occasions to target densely-populated civilian areas across Lebanon since last October, when it intensified its deadly attack against the country.

Hezbollah, however, has roundly refuted the claim.

The fresh aggression that has so far caused several casualties came after the Israeli military issued so-called evacuation notices just 10 minutes before launching the bombing campaign.

Medical sources reported that the targeted locations were densely inhabited by civilians, making it difficult to identify the number of the casualties.  Earlier in the day, the regime attacked the suburb of Dahiyeh in the south of Beirut and several areas in the country’s east with airstrikes.

The attacks came only a day after the regime carried out an extensive bombing campaign against financial institutions in the capital.

The Israeli regime escalated its deadly attacks against Lebanon last October, prompting Hezbollah to start responding by launching hundreds of retaliatory strikes against sensitive targets lying across the occupied territories and targeting the Israeli forces attempting to advance on southern Lebanese areas.

Also on Monday, the group carried out a rocket strike against an Israeli military intelligence base in the suburbs of the city of Tel Aviv in the occupied territories.

Hezbollah’s fighters also bombed the illegal settlements of Karmiel and Maalot-Tarshiha as well as the Israeli military’s 100 Camp that lies north of the Ayelet Hashahar area with rocket salvos.
