Beirut, October 22 (RHC)-- Israeli forces carried out more attacks on the southern suburbs of the Lebanese capital of Beirut last night, and at least one more this morning.

According to the Lebanese Ministry of Public Health, the death toll has risen to at least 13, including one child, and nearly 60 others injured, some in a critical condition.

The forced evacuations continue and people have very few places to go.  Many of them have tried to move in with friends and family in various locations across the country.

But if you just walk along the Corniche here in Beirut, you’ll see families living in tents.  Many of them are Syrian refugees, but many of them are IDPs (Internally Displaced People) who have arrived since the escalation on October 1st.

According to the Lebanese government, around 900 schools are being used as shelters for people who’ve been forced to flee these attacks,  affecting around 1.5 million children’s education.

Reports from Beirut affirm that the situation is dire and there is no sign of any letup by Israeli forces.
