Kazan, October 25 (RHC)-- Nicolás Maduro, during the BRICS-Russia 2024 Summit, reflected on the beginning of a new era for humanity, marked by the emergence of a more just, balanced world that respects the sovereignty of peoples.

In his speech before the Expanded Assembly of BRICS in the city of Kazan, Russia, the president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, called for recognition of the beginning of a new era for humanity.  He said that this new era is marked by the emergence of emerging powers and a more just and balanced world order.

President Maduro stressed that the BRICS not only represent a change in the economic and geopolitical sphere, but also symbolize a transformation in the values that should govern relations between nations.  "This is the beginning of a new era, an era where cooperation and solidarity will be the pillars of a more humane and equitable world," he said.

The Venezuelan president recalled the words of the Liberator Simón Bolívar and Commander Hugo Chávez, who in their respective historical moments already dreamed of building a more balanced and fair world.

For Maduro, the BRICS is the space where those dreams of justice and sovereignty find their fulfillment in the 21st century.  "200 years ago, Bolívar fought for independence and the balance of the world.  Today, that balance is a reality thanks to the BRICS," he said.

Nicolas Maduro insisted that this new era must leave behind the colonial and hegemonic practices that have dominated the international scene in recent centuries.  “The countries of the South are no longer willing to accept the imposition of economic or political conditions by Western powers,” he stressed.

He also pointed out that this new era is also marked by the need for a profound transformation in global institutions, such as the United Nations, which according to him have failed in their mission to protect the most vulnerable peoples.

“The international system that we know no longer responds to the realities of today's world. We must re-found global institutions so that they truly serve the people and not the interests of the elites,” he added.

Maduro concluded his speech by reiterating Venezuela's commitment to the values of the BRICS and its willingness to collaborate with emerging powers in building this new time for humanity.

“Venezuela is ready to contribute its revolutionary force to this new time, to this new era that has already begun,” he concluded.
