La Paz, November 2 (RHC)-- Former President Evo Morales, for his part, published a video on his account on the social network X in which he states that he began his hunger strike that he announced this Friday.
“We began the hunger strike from the Territory of Struggle, convinced of the need to find solutions to the problems that the Bolivian people face today,” said the former head of State.
He maintained that “the revolutionaries do not give up or give in. We will remain firm in the defense of better days for our country and we demand the immediate release of the comrades unjustly arrested during the day of protest.”
The Arce government announced this Friday that 66 people were arrested in the operation to clear the Parotani Bridge “who committed a series of crimes in flagrant violation against the integrity of the law enforcement officers of the Armed Forces.”
Evo Morales, upon announcing his intention to begin a fast to demand dialogue with the Arce government, also proposed to his colleagues to suspend the blockades they have maintained for 19 days, especially in Cochabamba.
However, the Evo supporters decided to continue with the pressure measure.
The peasant leader Humberto Claros declared to the Kawsachun Coca radio that the “bases” and the “parent organizations” mobilized “do not accept any intermission,” as Evo Morales requested.
Evo Morales' supporters are demanding, among other things, citizen security, a solution to the shortage of dollars and fuel, as well as respect for the decision taken by a Congress of the Evo wing of the ruling Movement Towards Socialism (MAS) to name the former president as its presidential candidate for the 2025 elections.
