What?   Me worry?

Washington, November 3 (RHC)-- In a letter addressed to U.S. President Joe Biden, a group of House Democrats have questioned the American military’s involvement in the escalation of violence by the Israeli regime in West Asia.

The letter sent on Friday to Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and Secretary of State Antony Blinken, demands an immediate end to the United States involvement in Israel’s “potentially endless regional war.”

The letter contends that a “deepening American involvement” in the regime’s barbaric atrocities in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon is unconstitutional as it was not authorized by Congress.

The lawmakers asked the Biden administration to provide a detailed account of U.S. troops’ involvement to “command, coordinate, participate in the movement of, or accompany” Israeli forces and their atrocities in Gaza, Lebanon, Yemen, Syria or elsewhere in the region.

“American military involvement in these wars has not been authorized by the United States Congress, as required by the Constitution and U.S. law,” it said.

The letter signed by Representatives Rashida Tlaib and Cori Bush said that “in the absence of an immediate ceasefire and end of hostilities, Congress retains the right and ability to exercise its Constitutional authority to direct the removal of any unauthorized Armed Forces from the region under Section 5(c) of the War Powers Resolution.”

The lawmakers also admitted that the Biden administration has deepened U.S. involvement in Israel’s devastating regional war through comprehensive intelligence sharing and operational coordination, and now even the direct deployment of U.S. troops to Israel.

Not only do these actions encourage further escalation and violence, they said, but they are also unauthorized by Congress.

They said the American people “have made it clear that they want to see an immediate ceasefire, an end to these wars, and the return of hostages, not deepening American involvement in potentially endless regional war.”

The move is part of an ongoing congressional debate over presidential war powers, sparked by the start of Israel’s genocide in Gaza on October 7, 2023.

The Israeli war has since killed more than 43,314 Palestinians, according to Gaza health officials. In Lebanon, the regime's forces have killed about 2,900 people ever since.

Observers have repeatedly said that the regime’s crimes against the people of Gaza and Lebanon could not have happened without the staunch support of Biden, whose administration has poured a record of at least $17.9 billion on military aid into Israel's war machine over the past year.
