Ramallah, December 13 (RHC)-- Israeli troops have shot and killed two young Palestinian men during separate raids in the West Bank, as tensions have flared up in the occupied territory since the beginning of the Tel Aviv regime’s genocidal war on the Gaza Strip in October of last year.
The official Palestinian news agency WAFA, citing medical sources, reported that 27-year-old Jihad Abu Salim was shot in the chest by Israeli troops on Thursday morning after they stormed Balata refugee camp on the outskirts of the city of Nablus. At least three others were injured during the raid.
Confrontations and clashes broke out with Israeli forces after they raided the camp amid heavy firing of gas bombs and live bullets. Abu Salim suffered a serious gunshot wound in a shootout.
Sources in the Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) said live bullets in the thigh struck a young man. A 65-year-old man and an elderly woman were transferred to hospital after being savagely beaten by Israeli troops. Israeli forces prevented Palestinian paramedics and ambulances from reaching the injured.
The forces also abducted a young Palestinian man, identified as Muhammad al-Aghbar, during their raid on Balata camp. Later on, the al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades mourned the death of Abu Salim, stating that he “attained martyrdom while confronting the Zionist enemy’s forces during their raid on the camp.”
Elsewhere in the northern West Bank city of Qalqilya, the Israeli military killed a young Palestinian man after firing live rounds at his vehicle.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health identified the victim as 25-year-old Muhammad Brahma. Local sources said Israeli forces fired live bullets at the vehicle while it was passing on the main street in the eastern sector of the city.
Video footage circulated on social media platforms showed Israeli forces desecrating the body of the Palestinian youth after killing him. Israeli forces also broke into several houses in the area and rounded up several Palestinians.
At least 811 Palestinians have been killed and over 6,450 others injured by Israeli army fire across the occupied territory since the beginning of the war on Gaza on October 7, 2023, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.
Palestinians have also been violently attacked by illegal Israeli settlers.
