Lima, October 24 (RHC-Andina) -- The governments of Peru and Belgium today signed a cooperation agreement that will provide scholarships for low-income Peruvian professionals of science and technology at Belgian universities.
The formal ceremony was attended by Peruvian President Ollanta Humala and Her Royal Highness Princess Astrid of Belgium, who is on an official visit to the Andean nation. They were accompanied by Belgian Deputy Prime Minister, Didier Reynders, and Peru’s Foreign Minister, Gonzalo Gutiérrez.
The inter-institutional cooperation agreement was signed between the Peruvian Ministry of Education and Belgium’s Research and Teaching Higher Education Academy.
Such an accord aims to promote a range of courses aimed at qualified education professionals, including masters and doctoral programmes in the areas of science and technology at universities in Belgium.
Peruvian recipients will pursue postgraduate studies at the Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB), the University of Liège (ULg) and the Université catholique de Louvain.
