Lisbon, January 12 (RHC)-- Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yván Gil has denounced that there was an attack with firebombs at the Consulate General of the country in Lisbon, Portugal, over the weekend.
The foreign minister posted photographs of the attack and pointed to fascist groups as those responsible. Gil also emphasized that these irrational attacks by the deranged groups "will not succeed in countering the progress of the Bolivarian Revolution," and expressed his gratitude for the prompt intervention of the Portuguese authorities that prevented further damage. "We hope that the investigations that have been initiated will facilitate the identification of the guilty and the determination of responsibilities," said the foreign minister.
It is important to highlight that these events are produced by groups of the Venezuelan far right, one day after the swearing-in of the president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, as a means to weaken the joy of the Venezuelan people, who since January 10th have been celebrating.
Also, remember that the interventionist attacks against the nation began from the moment of the swearing-in, an example of this is the recent list of officials sanctioned by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), in charge of the United States Treasury Department, the European Union and the United Kingdom.
Faced with these attacks, the national government, in perfect civic-military-police union, persists in its struggle and resistance, implementing specific actions to neutralize any attack by foreign empires, with the objective of defending its sovereignty.
