Mexico City, January 25 (RHC)-- The government of Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum, in response to the anti-immigrant policy of U.S. President Donald Trump, assured this Friday that it will always accept "with open arms" the compatriots who are repatriated.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE), in a message published on its account on the social network X, said that "Mexico has a very good relationship with the United States government and we cooperate with respect to our sovereignty on a wide range of issues, including migration."
"When it comes to repatriations, we will always accept the arrival of Mexicans to our territory with open arms. Mexico embraces you," the foreign ministry said.
This Friday, American media reported that two C-17 planes from the United States Air Force bound for Guatemala and with 80 people on board each, left on Thursday night. However, a third flight, scheduled to arrive in Mexico, never took off.
A Trump administration official denied that Mexico had refused to receive the flight and clarified that what happened was "an administrative problem," which was quickly resolved.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt announced on Friday that the Trump administration has begun deportation flights for illegal immigrants in the United States.
"Deportation flights have begun. President (Donald) Trump is sending a strong and clear message to the world: if you enter the U.S. illegally, you will face the consequences," the official explained on her X account.
