Caracas, February 14 (RHC)-- The Minister of the Interior, Justice and Peace of Venezuela, Diosdado Cabello, has revealed the existence of terrorist plans by the extremist opposition against the nation. The so-called "Operation Aurora" sought to carry out assaults on military units in the state of Bolívar, Cabello reported at a press conference.
The "Operation Aurora" had links with an assault carried out in 2019 on a military unit in Bolívar, whose authors fled to Colombia. Cabello showed a video of a detainee who explained the plan of said operation, which included assault actions on military units in Bolívar as part of a scheme by the Venezuelan terrorist right.
In the video, the detainee recounts how his group escaped through the Brazilian jungle and was extracted by a helicopter of the Brazilian Armed Forces. The detainee, who returned to Venezuela in December 2024, was contacted to place explosives in another Venezuelan military installation. The Venezuelan authorities arrested Damián Alexander Rojas Díaz and others involved.
Cabello also revealed that the authorities have followed the statements of spokesmen for these terrorist groups on social networks.
One of them mentioned that an American mercenary, Mathew Van Dyke, and Erick Prince, with funds from Colombian drug trafficking and USAID, are participating in covert operations against Venezuela. Cabello showed a structure with political operators who recruit mercenaries for "Operation Gold."
In audios revealed by Cabello, right-wing spokesmen offer details about the preparations for the operation, including the assembly of an explosive device.
Cabello said that the detainees have confessed their links and that they were planning to activate explosives in various parts of the country, including the kidnapping of Judge Maykel Moreno, former president of the Supreme Court of Justice. This operation was financed by high-ranking US officials.
As a result of the investigative work, several cell phones with information about the plan have been seized. Cabello urged the population to remain alert, stating that "these mercenaries, these murderers, these terrorists do not rest."
Cabello added that María Corina Machado is linked to these terrorist plans that were intended to be executed in military installations in the states of Guárico and Barinas.
He also asked the U.S. government to extradite the representatives of the right who “have caused harm to the country.” “Now that they are sending so many people, send us the criminals, those who have accounts with justice so that they can be judged,” said Cabello.
The minister also highlighted that the opposition has not added new faces, stating that “they are the same, they are the same faces, they are the same names of deserters and mercenaries that they recycle over and over again, because they have no one else (…) They are the same characters, they are the same operators of violence who have not been able to add anyone else.”
Cabello also reported that Venezuela alerted several governments in the region, including Brazil during the mandate of Jair Bolsonaro and Peru, where some of these terrorists took refuge, but none of these governments did anything about it.
The minister reiterated that all those involved in this plan have been captured and that the operation has been dismantled thanks to the information obtained and the evidence collected. "Terrorism will have no place in Venezuela," Cabello said.
