Havana, February 18 (RHC)-- Longtime political prisoner and Indigenous activist Leonard Peltier has been released from a Florida prison today after spending nearly 50 years behind bars.
For decades, Peltier, who is 80 years old, has maintained his innocence over the 1975 killing of two FBI agents in a shootout on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota.
Last month, President Biden commuted Peltier’s life sentence to serve the remainder of his time under house arrest.
