Nablus, February 19 (RHC)-- Israeli forces have conducted new raids in the northern part of the occupied West Bank, shooting and firing tear gas at local Palestinians, which caused injuries among them.
The Palestinian WAFA news agency reported that the Israeli attacks took place at the city of Tulkarm, as well as the Nur Shams and Tulkarm refugee camps, and the town of Qusra in Nablus governorate.
The occupation forces bulldozed the streets in Tulkarm and destroyed the city's infrastructure. They also tightened their siege on the city's eastern neighborhood, preventing residents from leaving their homes, while detaining, interrogating and abusing them, and forcing shop owners to close their businesses.
At the Tulkarm camp, Israeli soldiers burned houses, including the one belonging to martyr Wassim Anbar.
Eyewitnesses told WAFA that the situation in the camp is becoming increasingly dire, with local Palestinians remaining in their homes amid a severe shortage of basic supplies such as food, water and medicines.
The regime forces, they added, chase anyone who leaves his home or tries to return to the camp, shoot at him, and direct drones to photograph him.
A similar situation was also reported at several neighborhoods of the Nur Shams camp. Israeli troops also set up a checkpoint on Nablus Street connecting Tulkarm and the Nur Shams camp, stopped vehicles, and detained a number of their passengers.
Additionally on Monday, the occupation forces stormed Qusra, shooting and firing tear gas at locals. During the assault, several Palestinians, including members of a family, suffered suffocation from tear gas and were transferred to a medical center.
Meanwhile, Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa has tasked governors and emergency committees in the northern West Bank with providing the displaced with shelters and humanitarian aid.
He further underlined the need for preparing plans and resources aimed at reconstructing what has been destroyed in Israeli attacks and strengthening the Palestinian nation's steadfastness.
The Israeli military launched its offensive against the West Bank’s northern areas on January 21, claiming that it was targeting resistance fighters of the Jenin Battalion.
Israel has ramped up West Bank violence since October 7, 2023, when it launched its genocidal war on the Gaza Strip. Since then, the regime forces have killed at least 916 Palestinians, including 183 children, and injured more than 7,000 others in the occupied West Bank.
