Washington, February 25 (RHC)-- The World Health Organization’s representative in the West Bank and Gaza, addressing the impact of U.S. humanitarian aid cuts from inside the enclave, said financial assistance would leave several areas without funds.
Rik Peeperkorn said the “freezing” of the financial assistance would leave six areas underfunded in Gaza, including EMT operations, rehabilitation of health facilities, coordination with partner organisations, and medical evacuation operations.
The official said money the WHO has left for such operations at the moment and “we’re still going full steam ahead” with activities.
Tarik Jasarevic, a WHO spokesman, said he did not have figures about how the U.S. funding cuts affected the entirety of its operations worldwide.
