Havana, March 5 (RHC)-- "The United States is back."  This is how President Donald Trump opened a triumphalist speech before Congress in his first message to the nation after returning to the White House on January 20th.

For more than an hour and a half, the Republican president defended last night, during prime time, the actions of his government, despite the fact that many of the measures are shrouded in controversy.

He spoke to the applause of the Republicans and the rejection of the Democrats.  "It is the most successful era of our country.  We have achieved more in 43 days than other governments have done in four or eight years and we are just getting started," he said.

When he referred to the fact that more Americans thought the country was heading in the right direction, a congressman was removed from the room after protests interrupted his speech.

He reiterated old promises and launched new threats. He confirmed that drastic measures on immigration will continue and ratified accusations that migrants who entered through the border were dangerous criminals.

He referred again to Greenland and the Panama Canal in a future where the United States controls both places and did not skimp on adjectives when he mentioned his Democratic predecessor Joe Biden and his administration (2021-2025).

According to Trump, Biden - whom he blamed even for the high price of eggs - was the worst president the United States has had and that his government was a disaster.

He also defended the imposition of tariffs, in fact, he asked for patience -- that "a small shock" may occur, but that it will be temporary.  He did not give a solution to how the problem of inflation will be resolved.

Trump insisted on his accusations against Mexico and Canada regarding the fight against fentanyl trafficking.  “They have to do more,” he stressed.

He boasted of having withdrawn the United States from the “ridiculous green farce of the Paris Agreement,” the “corrupt World Health Organization” and the “anti-American Human Rights Council.”

There was no shortage of praise for Elon Musk, for the work he does at the head of the Department of Government Efficiency, despite the fact that this has meant massive layoffs, but Trump pointed out that he was “draining the swamp,” as he promised in his election campaign.

In the hall, members of the Democratic Party coordinated their outfits to express their political points, such is the case that several congresswomen wore pink clothing to highlight all the violated rights of women.

During the speech, Trump announced that he received a letter from the president of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky, in which he stated that he was ready for peace. (Source: Prensa Latina)
