Havana, October 29 (RHC)-- The Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia- People's Army (FACR-EP) is urging the government of President Juan Manuel Santos to assume its share of responsibility for the Colombian armed conflict and the systematic acts of victimization.
During peace negotiations here in Havana, representatives of the guerrilla groups stressed that the conflict was a direct consequence of neo-liberal policies implemented by the Colombian state, which further exacerbated inequality in the South American nation.
The FARC representatives also mentioned the lack of opportunities, and of guarantees to excercise political and social opposition and the militarization of society as yet other factors leading up to the armed conflict.
They demanded that the Colombian State assume its full responsibility for the design and financing of paramilitary-like structures to counteract and eliminate any expression of organized political and social opposition.
