Sanaa, March 17 (RHC)-- U.S. warplanes have launched multiple attacks against Yemen, claiming the lives of at least 53 people, including five children.

The Houthis forces have promised to retaliate after the U.S. bombed Yemen 47 times in the past 24 hours.

The spokesperson of the Houthis, Yahya Saree, said during his latest news conference that the group has launched an attack on the USS Harry S Truman aircraft carrier.  He said they used at least 18 missiles and drones in this operation, and that this forced the carrier to flee the Yemeni regional waters.  He also said the group has foiled, according to its terms, this attack by the USS Harry S Truman.

Despite this claim, however, the USS Harry S Truman has continued to launch attacks on the regions under the control of Ansar Allah (Houthi).

From sunset on Saturday until sunrise on Sunday, U.S. warplanes attacked multiple towns in Yemen, launching more than 47 air raids targeting at least seven provinces under the control of Ansar Allah fighters.

U.S. officials pledge to keep hitting Houthi-led areas of Yemen until the rebel group backs down on its threat to resume attacks on Israel-linked ships in the Red Sea.
