Caracas, March 28 (RHC)-- Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro Moros has rejected the belligerent statements made by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who threatened the country's territoriality and sovereignty from Guyana.

In response, Maduro commented that Venezuela is a land of liberators that does not submit to imperial intimidation.  Likewise, he pointed out the complicity between Rubio and figures of the Venezuelan far right, such as María Corina Machado.

"No one threatens Venezuela because this is the homeland of the liberators.  This is the homeland of Bolívar," the Venezuelan president maintained.

The Venezuelan president also rejected Rubio's words, saying that Rubio is lying when he questions the lack of democracy in the Bolivarian nation.  "Marco Rubio has never attended a popular assembly or gone to a neighborhood, because they are part of the corrupt elite of Miami, very corrupt people who hate Venezuela.  He is the Godfather of La Sayona.  Look what they have done to Venezuelan migrants," he expressed.

Following Marco Rubio's offensive and provocative statements, in which he argued that Venezuela's claims to the Essequibo are illegitimate, Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yván Gil called them "the bravado of a self-conscious person."

Gil emphasized that Venezuela will not give in to imperial blackmail.  He stressed that the Bolivarian people will defend their sovereignty with the force of reason and historical legitimacy over the Essequibo.

"We will not allow foreign interests like Exxon Mobil or the U.S. military-industrial complex to turn our territorial claim into a battlefield," Gil declared, and demanded respect for the Geneva Agreement as the only valid framework for a peaceful resolution to the dispute.

Vice President Delcy Rodríguez also strongly condemned the bellicose threats of the Trump administration and its regional allies, reaffirming Venezuela's unwavering commitment to peace.  She emphasized that the Bolivarian people, heirs to the dignity of liberty, will not tolerate attacks against their sovereignty or rights over the Essequibo.

Delcy Rodriguez demanded that Guyana halt its illegal actions in waters pending delimitation and resume dialogue under the Argyle Mechanism, in the face of the dangerous shift toward war promoted by Washington and its partners.
