United Nations, April 3 (RHC)-- The UN deputy humanitarian aid chief Joyce Msuya told the UN’s Security Council on Wednesday that Gaza is the world’s most dangerous place for aid workers, with more than 408 killed since Israel launched its war on the territory.
Speaking alongside Msuya, the UN’s security chief Gilles Michaud said “impunity for attacks on humanitarian personnel has become the new normal. A pervasive normal. An accepted normal.” Both UN officials cited what they said were two recent Israeli attacks to underscore their point.
The first was an Israeli attack on a clearly marked UN building on March 19 that killed one UN international staff member and injured six others. And an attack on March 23rd on ambulances and other marked emergency vehicles by Israeli forces that killed a UN staff member, eight Palestine Red Crescent Society emergency workers, and six civil defense personnel.
