Ramallah, April 23 (RHC)-- The Palestinian National Council has accused Israel of committing war crimes and crimes against humanity in the Gaza Strip, where more than 51,000 deaths have been reported since October 2023.
"The deliberate attacks against defenseless civilians in shelters constitute an escalation of the policy of genocide and ethnic cleansing practiced by that country's far-right government," the organization denounced in a statement.
The Palestinian National Council harshly criticized the recent bombings of tents for displaced persons in the Jabalia refugee camp and nearby Gaza City. "The silence of the international community is no longer mere complicity, but rather a declared association with the crimes of genocide and ethnic cleansing against our people," it stated.
Given this situation, the Council warned of the repercussions of this escalation of violence for international peace and security. "We urge the world to comply with treaties and international humanitarian law, the text stated, calling for "immediate and serious measures to stop this aggression."
It also demanded accountability for those responsible for these crimes and protection for all Palestinians.
This week, the Palestinian National Council, in another statement, called on the international community to break the blockade imposed by Israel on the Gaza Strip, which prevents the entry of food, medicine, fuel, and other vital products.
"The world must intervene to break the unjust and deadly siege imposed on the Strip for months, which has turned the lives of more than two million people into an unbearable hell."
