Havana, November 19 (PL-RHC)-- Members of the negotiating team of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia-People's Army (FARC-EP) have expressed their hope that the peace talks impasse be resolved so as to move towards a final agreement.

“The peace process, whose progress have triggered the hope of reconciliation, cannot run the risk with impulsive determinations,” says a FARC statement, read by negotiator Pastor Alape, during a press conference at Havana's Conference Center.

Alape pointed out: “We want this impasse to be resolved as soon as possible to keep the process going up to a final agreement.”

Calling for an end to the inconsistencies of the government, the FARC-EP affirmed that the General Agreement in Havana must be respected, which states that "talks will be direct and uninterrupted.”

Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos suspended talks in Havana on Sunday until the situation of Alzate's disappearance be clarified.

The conflict in Colombia has left some 6.5 million victims, including more than 200,000 deaths. So, it is crucial to reach peace as the peace talks should continue to meet that end.
