Washington, January 12 (RHC)-- Police have arrested two people who were among demonstrators standing in front of the home of former U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney to protest the 14th anniversary of the opening of the Guantanamo prison.

The demonstration was held in McLean, Virginia, and was organized by the anti-war group Code Pink. According to reports, 57-year-old Tighe Barry and the 83-year-old Eve Tetaz, both from Washington DC, were arrested on Saturday. Fairfax County police spokesman Roger Henriquez said the two protesters were arrested on trespassing charges. They face misdemeanor charges of trespassing and disorderly conduct. Another demonstration was held outside the home of CIA Director John Brennan inMcLean.

In 2013, Tighe Barry was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct for criticizing the CIA drone strikes. "What about the children that are being killed by so-called targeted drone strikes?" he asked at the time.

In December, the U.S. Senate released the executive summary of a report about the CIA torture program, saying the agency misled the public about torturing prisoners following the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks. According to the report, the CIA acted more brutally and pervasively than it previously acknowledged.

Cheney has repeatedly defended the torture program and said he would authorize it again, without thinking twice. The Guantanamo prison, where many of the terror suspects have been held without charge or trial, was opened in January 2002 on the orders of U.S. President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney.
