Lima, January 21 (RHC-Andina) -- Peru and Ecuador have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on labor cooperation aimed at fostering employment and friendship ties in both nations, announced Peru’s Labour Minister Fredy Otarola.
The bilateral treaty was signed by Otarola and his Ecuadorian counterpart, Carlos Marx, within the framework of the Second Meeting of Peru-Ecuador Binational Cabinet High Level Authorities, held Sept 18, 2014, and the presidential meeting and 8th Binational Cabinet meeting on Oct 30, 2014.
The signing ceremony also saw the participation of Ecuadorian Ambassador Jose Sandoval and Peru's Vice Minister of Employment Promotion and Training, Daniel Maurate.
The Memorandum attempts to lay the foundation for both parties to develop works, programs, projects, exchange of experts and other types of mutual cooperation, taking into account the area of common interest, the good practices of labor intermediation and the allocation of employment quotas for persons with disabilities.
At the meeting, the Ecuadorian government official expressed interest in knowing how the Ventanilla Unica de Promoción del Empleo works, which operates in Peru as a center that brings together labor supply and demand.
Peru’s Labor Ministry will share information about this successful experience as well as information on the functioning of its Socio-Economic Labor Observatory.
