Buenos Aires, February 18 (RHC-teleSUR) -- Argentina’s foreign minister has asked his U.S. counterpart to include the investigation into the 1994 bombing of the Buenos Aires AMIA Jewish Center in the nuclear negotiations with Iran.

"I am asking you again that the AMIA issue be included in the negotiations with the Islamic Republic of Iran," Argentinian Foreign Minister Hector Timerman sent in a letter to Secretary of State John Kerry on Tuesday.

The unresolved case re-emerged in the news after the mysterious death of Argentinian prosecutor Alberto Nisman, who was investigating the case. Nisman had made accusations of a cover up in the country suppressing Iranian involvement, something Argentine President Cristina Fernandez has called “absurd.”

Furthermore, WikiLeaks cables have revealed a close relationship between Nisman and the U.S. and Israeli embassies.

Observers say that U.S. negotiators, along with Britain, China, France, Germany and Russia, are having a difficult time reaching a deal with Iran as deadlines have been pushed back several times — so it is unlikely that this new agenda item will be included.
