Caracas, March 9 (teleSUR-RHC)-- Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro announced on Saturday the installation of 20,000 fingerprint readers throughout the country in an effort to stem smuggling in the country.
The president made the announcement during the inauguration of a new 75,000 square foot, state-owned supermarket in the city of Charallave, outside of the capital, Caracas.
The government of Venezuela is fighting what it calls an “economic war,” waged by the opposition, which is seeking to destabilize the government by deliberately limiting the availability of important consumer goods.
