Quito, March 11 (teleSUR-RHC)-- Ecuadorean President Rafael Correa announced Tuesday that the foreign ministers from the member-states of the Union of South American Nations (UNASUR) will meet tomorrow to discuss U.S. interference in Venezuelan affairs.

“This Thursday, the foreign ministers of UNASUR will meet in Montevideo to organize a summit of the heads of states of (UNASUR) next week where we will give the corresponding answer to that gross, illegal, shameless, outrageous, and unjustified act of interference by the United States in the internal affairs of Venezuela,” said Rafael Correa during a press conference.

The meeting of the foreign ministers of UNASUR comes at a time when U.S. President Barack Obama declared Venezuela an “unusual and extraordinary threat” to the United States.

The head of UNASUR, Ernesto Samper, has already made it clear that the bloc stands behind the democraticaly-elected government of Nicolas Maduro.

Several Latin American heads of state have also condemned the statement by the U.S. President. The 12-member states of the Bolivarian Alliance for our Americas (ALBA) joined the growing list of countries to condemn the U.S. threats on Venezuela.
