Buenos Aires, March 27 (teleSUR-RHC) An Argentinean court of appeals rejected on Thursday a request to review the decision of Judge Daniel Rafecas, who discarded a lawsuit against President Cristina Fernandez and other high-ranking officials.
The lawsuit against the president was part of the documents found in late attorney Alberto Nisman's apartment.
It was taken to court by attorney Gerardo Pollicita. The appeals court of Buenos Aires agreed with Rafecas' decision in a 2-1 vote. In a previous ruling, Judge Rafecas had discarded Nisman's lawsuit due to its inconsistencies and lack of evidence.
The late attorney left two different documents in his house which, in stark contrast, presented two contradicting versions. One of the documents praised President Fernandez's foreign policy and the efforts made by the government to advance in the AMIA bombing case of 1994, while the other blamed the president directly and high-ranking officials of helping Iran cover up its role in the bombing.
Opposition leaders and several judges and attorneys are trying to reopen the case, which many consider highly politicized.
Thursday's ruling can be appealed again, sending it this time to the Federal Appeals Court, which would have the final word.
Pollicita would require Attorney General German Moldes to approve the move, however Moldes already announced he will be allowing the appeal to reach the federal court.
