Caracas, April 25 (PL-RHC)-- Venezuela's Electoral Commission is making progress in the process of defining the number of deputies that will be elected by each states to occupy the 167 seats in Parliament. In view of the upcoming National Assembly elections, whose date has yet to be specified, the Commission is finishing up the details of the process, a Commission's statement says.
Based on the Venezuelan population – 30.8 million people- the National Institute of Statistics will determine the distribution of the 167 seats. The 87 districts for voting will be the same used during parliamentary elections in 2010, said the president of the National Electoral Commission, Tibisay Lucena.
Changes are only based on the number of deputies, due to the population changes registered by the National Institute of Statistics. Out of the 167 seats, 164 will be for state deputies and three for the indigenous representatives.
