Havana, May 8 (RHC) -– The 36th round of peace negotiations between the Colombian government and the FARC rebel group concluded today in Havana, with a call to effectively dismantle paramilitary groups.

The Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia guerrilla group recalled that the Agreement of Havana from August 2012 specified the need to resolve pending issues such as the paramilitary, in order to establish a true and lasting peace.

The rebels also warned that the Colombian people would not tolerate more collective victimizations and abuses by the State.

The rebels and the Colombian government are holding peace talks in Havana since 2012, most of the issues in the agenda have been agreed upon, but differences still remain in the path towards a final peace deal.
