Caracas, Aug 8, (RHC), -- Venezuela's President, Nicolas Maduro, denounced a series of sabotages against the national power infrastructure, as part of opposition-led efforts to undermine the December 6 parliamentary elections.

Maduro said that a recent power failure in the states of Cojedes, Portuguesa, Barinas and Tachira, was planned to prevent scheduled rallies in support of the ruling United Socialist Party of Venezuela in those territories.

They left those states an hour without power to punish the people who took the streets to support the government, said Maduro, adding that those responsible had been identified and will be captured.

He also condemned opposition forces that faced with the impossibility of winning the elections, have turned to a destabilization strategy seeking to sow chaos, violence and internal fighting amongst the population.
