Caracas, September 5 (RHC-PL), -- President Nicolás Maduro appointed new vice presidents and members of his Cabinet to replace those nominated to parliamentary elections scheduled for December 6.
Maduro made the announcement through his Twitter account from Qatar, where he traveled to strengthen economic, financial and energy links.
The changes involve vice presidencies for Political Sovereignty, Development of Territorial Socialism, Social Development and Development of Missions.
Foreign Minister Delcy Rodriguez will assume the tasks used to be fulfilled by Carmen Melendez while Isis Ochoa will replace Haiman el Troudi.
The Minister for Women and Gender Equality-related Affairs, Gladys Requena, will replace Hector Rodriguez.
Jose Luis Bernardo will run the Ministry of Land Transport and Public Works; Rodulfo Perez will be in charge of the Ministry of Education and Clara Vidal will lead the Ministry of Indigenous Peoples' Affairs.
Maduro appointed Jesus Salazar as minister of the Presidential Office and Ivan Hernandez as Head of the Military House (presidential security).
According to Venezuelan law, the public servants nominated to parliamentary elections should be dismissed from their positions before the start of the electoral race (Nov. 13).
