La Paz, October 5 (teleSUR-RHC)-- Bolivia’s minister of the presidency called Sunday for investigations into WikiLeaks cables revealing the U.S. had plans in 2008 to either topple the government of Evo Morales, or allow his assassination.
“This requires an in-depth investigation by the Plurinational Legislative Assembly, of all competent authorities. We need to carry out an investigation to subsequently take decisions regarding the United States government,” said Juan Ramon Quintana, Bolivia’s Minister of the Presidency.
“It is a supported description of the destabilization strategy of the United States that ranged between a coup and the assassination of President Morales,” the minister said.
“In 2007 the embassy of the United States set up a Center of Operations in order to execute a civil-prefectural coup to apply Plan A, which was the coup, and Plan B, which was the assassination,” he added.
Relations between the U.S. and Bolivia have been strained since 2009 when President Morales expelled the U.S. ambassador from the country for supporting a opposition-led conspiracy against him.
