Sao Paulo, October 15 (PL-RHC)-- Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff, denounced on Wednesday attempts by opposition sectors seek shortcuts to gain power, in clear violation of the Constitution.

While speaking before more than 2,000 farmers and delegates to the First National Congress of Small Farmers Movement (MPA), held in Sao Bernardo do Campo, Rousseff accused her opponents of attempting to disrupt the democratic process to take the presidency.

She noted these sectors use artificial arguments to promote a political trial against her at the National Congress and charge her with fiscal responsibility.

The president denied she had made any wrongdoing in the public accounts of her previous mandate and clarified that this method was used by previous administrations without any record of punishments.

These actions have the face of a disguised coup, she said, stressing that she will defend her mandate and Brazilian democracy.

This is the second time in less than 24 hours that the Brazilian head of state condemned the incessant attempts by the opposition to come to power through a coup with false arguments.

In her speech this Tuesday at the 12th Congress of the Central Unica dos Trabalhadores (CUT), the largest union in this country, the Brazilian leader defended democracy and her mandate, and said she is not afraid of the coup leaders and their supporters because she fought all her life for freedom.
